Sound and light installation
blue LED strobe, algorithmic sine-wave sound composition, custom mechatronic apparatus with speakers, sound card, media console, lasers, mirrors
10' x 8' x 9'
The title stands for red and blue in decimal code (RGB). The colors refer to Redshift and Blueshift of Doppler effect that happen when light shifts toward shorter or longer wavelengths as objects in space move closer or farther away. By association to the space race of the Cold War, the red and blue take on other meanings such as Communism and Capitalism as it relates to the artist, but are not limited to political context and are open to interpretation.
The final result is a site-specific sound and light installation comprised of a blue strobe and red Lissajous figures, generated by the algorithmic sound composition using two separate sine-wave frequencies and capitalizing on their interactions with each other by means of a custom mechatronic apparatus employing speakers, mirrors, and lasers.
