Denis Rovinskiy


Biography


Denis Rovinskiy is a visual and sound artist. Born in Russia, he lives and works in Miami, Florida. Rovinskiy earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts from Florida International University, summa cum laude (2019), where he is a Ratcliffe Art + Design Incubator alumni (2019).
Largely driven by scientific phenomena, Rovinskiy creates interactive kinetic installations and performances, audiovisual art, experimental photography and sculpture, examining the social, political and cultural undertones of color theory. Some of his most recent works, exploring the field of Lissajous figures, are produced by live-coded sine waves and custom apparatus with lasers, blending cutting-edge high-tech with retro low-tech in search of new ways of expression.
Recent shows include “Matter of Light,” Miami International Fine Arts Gallery, Miami, FL (2022), “Beyond the Plane (End of Painting),” The Laundromat Art Space, Miami, FL (2022), “Gift Shop Project,” curated by Yi Chin Hsieh, Wolfsonian Meseum, Miami Beach, FL (2021), and “Postcards From the Edge,” benefitting Visual AIDS, Bortolami Gallery, New York, NY (2020). Upcoming art projects include live audiovisual coding at TidalCycles algorave and 911 Museum “I Was There”, Miami, FL.
Rovinskiy recently received an award from Oolite Arts Relief Fund (2020) and two MÁS! Grant Awards from Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs (2020).
